The Sharjah Social Services Department is preparing to hold the “The Best International Practices Meeting” organised annually by the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office of the SSSD.
It aims to present the experiences, best practices, and innovations provided by age-friendly cities to benefit from them and develop services provided to the elderly in the emirate.
According to Asmaa Al Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office, the Sharjah Age-friendly City programme aims to create a comprehensive and sustainable physical, healthy, social, economic, and urban environment for the elderly residents to benefit from its resources easily and reach effective healthy aging.
She added that over the past years, we have been able to reach the standards of age-friendly cities in Sharjah by 90%, within the eight sectors of age-sensitive cities that are required to be achieved and will continue to work to achieve more via learning about the experiences of other age-friendly cities which will be reviewed in the meeting. The indicator of meeting the criteria for age-friendly cities in Sharjah and the results of the strategic plan will also be presented.
