Sharjah Ruler approves AUS operational budget for fiscal year 2018

SHARJAH — H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS, approved the AUS operational budget for the fiscal year 2018 while chairing its Board of Trustees meeting on Sunday.

He also approved a number of decisions related to work progress and development plan of AUS.

Sheikh Sultan welcomed the audience and thanked AUS Trustees Board members for their sincere efforts aiming to develop AUS. He expressed satisfaction with AUS’ progress.

The members of the Trustees Board thanked the Ruler of Sharjah for his wise leadership and generous support for the university.

In his statement on the occasion, Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, expressed deep gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for his wise and prudent leadership. He said, “We draw vigor from the directives and wisdom of H.H., and that his support was a core component for AUS’ achievement of its objectives and goals. AUS was able to move to the next phase of development to become a pioneering research institution in the region.”

Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve also thanked the members of the Board of Trustees for their sincere efforts to develop AUS.

The council also discussed several issues and approved a number of decisions including the promotion of a number of teaching staff and changing some staff’s contracts to permanent contracts.
