SEWA replaces electrical transmission lines with ground cables

SHARJAH, The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, SEWA, has announced the cancellation of all the electrical overhead transmission lines and wires of low pressure 420 KVA , that feed the areas of the Authority’s Central Region, replacing it with ground power cables , according to the best specifications, at a cost of over AED 30 million.

The Authority has also stopped 1000 electrical columns for high-pressure lines 33 KVA, is in line with SEWA’s strategy to enhance the efficiency of power grids.

Commenting on this, Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, said that the development of the energy and water projects in the Central Region comes in line with the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Stressing that the Authority continues to implement maintenance and development projects in the region, Rashid Al Leem commented that the project aims to achieve security and safety, Khalifa Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Director of Central Region Department, said that the Authority has also lauded the Authority’s comprehensive plan to replace the aerial cables in the Central Region with ground cables, contributing to the stability of networks and ensuring to provide the best services in all areas.
