SAI hosts CIPFA Conference

ABU DHABI, The State Audit Institution, SAI, hosted the conference of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, CIPFA, which started yesterday at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of financial experts from the public sector.

The conference aims to highlight the sectors related to government policies, support economic growth, and present the goals of the general financial administration and their impact on enhancing public sector services, to provide better services and improve community wellbeing around the world, as well as achieve sustainable development, limit poverty, and eliminate fraud and corruption.

Numerous sessions were held during the conference on how to reduce fraud and corruption and manage public funds in a better way, as well as the mechanisms used by governments to promote values and ethics that promote sustainable development.

During the conference’s opening speech, Dr. Hareb bin Saeed Al Ameemi, Chairman of the SAI and Chairman of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, INTOSAI, stated that the efforts against corruption during the era of globalisation and technological advancement are among the key topics that should be studied and discussed. They also require greater cooperation and information exchange between relevant institutions and authorities, he added while pointing out that the SAI is the central authority in the UAE concerned with monitoring the implementation of the United Nations, UN, Anti-Corruption Convention.

The SAI has trained over 50 auditors over the past two years in its diploma programme, who attained CIPFA certificates in auditing, audit confirmations, fraud control and public sector financial reporting.
