RTA reviews Norwegian model in improved marine transit modes

DUBAI — The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, in Dubai has received a visiting delegation from the Kingdom of Norway, led by Jens Eikaas, Norwegian Ambassador to the UAE. The visit is part of the joint efforts to share expertise in boat manufacturing.

The delegation includes Minna Crozier, Commercial Adviser to The Royal Norwegian Embassy, and several representatives of the Norwegian boat manufacturer, Baotservies.

Commenting on the visit, Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency said, “The delegation of Baotservies Company delivered a visual presentation highlighting the abilities and experience of the company in the manufacturing of boats and marine transit modes along with the massive development seen by the industry. The meeting also reviewed the RTA’s experience in fitting marine transit modes with electric propulsion systems and the prospects of co-operation between the two parties.

“These meetings are part of the RTA’s efforts to enhance co-operation with global businesses in various fields to gain experience and benefit from the introduction of latest technologies. Marine transit modes feature high amongst the RTA’s project portfolio as Dubai residents, visitors and tourists fancy the picturesque Dubai Beaches and the stunning skyline in the backdrop. The RTA spares no effort in improving marine transit modes and fitting them with advanced technologies, such as electrical and solar power, rendering them environment-friendly,” Al Ali added.
