President of Somalia receives UAE Ambassador in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, — President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received today Mohammed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to Somalia in the state’s capital, Mogadishu.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed bilateral relations and means of strengthening and developing them in various fields.

President Mohamud praised the UAE’s progress and stance in supporting the Somali people, especially during the current humanitarian crisis. The President noted about half of the state’s population is need of urgent assistance and called on the UAE to support Somalia and alleviate the suffering of the Somali people to overcome this crisis.

Ambassador Al Hammadi expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Mohamud for his efforts in consolidating the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also affirmed the UAE’s commitment to standing by Somalia to overcome its current crisis by providing necessary humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Somali people, especially those affected by the drought.
