Palestinian Pres. hails Arab support to Palestinian rights

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated Tuesday the importance of Arab country’s support for the Palestinian cause and rights.

In statements during his reception of visiting Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, President Abbas re-affirmed his commitment defending Palestinian people’s rights and standing up against foreign dictations, threats and attempts to put an end to the Palestinian cause.

He argued that defending Jerusalem was the responsibility of Arabs and all free people of the world.

He underlined the need for organizing an international conference for peace in the Middle East to work out new mechanisms for resolving the Palestinian issue on the bases of the relevant UN resolutions, which called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 5th 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas briefed the Moroccan top diplomat on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the peace process, which reached a dead end due to Israel’s intransigent stance and the unjust US decisions, including the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

For his part, the Bourita asserted his country’s support and solidarity with the Palestinian leadership and people on the whole Palestinian cause, especially status of Jerusalem.

He added that the Moroccan King is keen on coordinating with President Abbas to confront schemes against the Palestinian cause and the city of Jerusalem.
