Nahyan bin Mubarak hails cultural role of ADIBF

ABU DHABI –The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) has contributed for over 27 years to enriching the cultural movement not only in the UAE but also in the Gulf region and Arab world as well, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has said.

While touring the pavilion of the ministry and others at the ADIBF on Thursday evening in the presence of a number of writers and intellectuals, he added that various activities of the fair “represent a qualitative leap in the industry culture, boost the publishing movement, enrich the knowledge, support the efforts of writers and intellectuals, as well as nurture creative young people and help detect promising talents in various fields.”

He added that the continuous organisation of the ADIBF over the past years “translates the wise guidance of the wise leadership to spread the culture of science, knowledge, literature and the arts, being the most important elements of our social and cultural life.” The event also promotes the spirit of belonging to the dear homeland with the consolidation of human communication through the book as an ideal way to support the dialogue of civilisations and cultures, the UAE minister said.

Sheikh Nahyan said that the fair is characterised by the constructive and purposeful content of Arab, and international publications and cultural activities. He praised the organisers who attract annually the largest number of Arab and foreign countries, and international cultural bodies to participate in the event.
