IIT approves 5-year strategic plan

DUBAI, The Board of Trustees of the International Institute for Tolerance, IIT, in Dubai, a branch of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, approved the institute’s five-year strategic plan from 2019 to 2023, during a meeting chaired by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the IIT.

Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Managing Director of the IIT, said that the plan is based on six main axes, which are guaranteeing the happiness of customer by exceeding their expectations, creating effective long-term sustainable partnerships with stakeholders, establishing tolerance by building a cohesive community based on tolerance, peace, coexistence and acceptance, creating an educated and innovative working environment by empowering human resources through training, development and continuous learning, and focussing on active institutional governance through managing financial resources efficiently and effectively.

He added that the plan includes six main goals, which will be implemented through a series of axes that will aim to spread tolerance and friendliness among the entire community and enhance the country’s stature as a model of tolerance, pluralism, culture and religious dialogue while highlighting the real image of Islam as a religion of tolerance and peace.

He stated that the drafting of the strategic plan was based on the UAE Centennial 2071 and the Dubai Plan 2021, as well as on analysing the internal and external environment, benchmarking similar institutes and authorities, reviewing the IIT’s plans and programmes, and developing the work of the IIT with relevant stakeholders.

Al Shaibani noted that the launch of the plan is in implementation of the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and is in line with the UAE’s strategic vision while pointing out that adopting the plan is part of the IIT’s efforts to performs its national responsibilities efficiently and with merit, particularly in 2019, which was declared, by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as the Year of Tolerance.

He also stressed that the plan is in line with the UAE’s efforts to promote the spirit of tolerance, and the belief of the wise leadership in the importance of strengthening coexistence and tolerance, empowering a tolerant community, and affirming the values of love and solidarity, as well as in combatting hatred and creating constructive dialogue, in accordance with the IIT’s goals of building partnerships, achieving excellence in its plans, programmes and initiatives, encouraging innovation, and establishing a culture of tolerance among local, regional and international communities.

The strategy has a specific timeline for achieving the required results in performance measurement indexes, he said in conclusion.
