Global Autism Awareness Walk to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorders

DUBAI, — On Saturday, April 15th, thousands of people from the UAE community are expected to participate at the 8th edition, Camelicious Global Autism Awareness Festival and Walk, an annual event that include a 3 km walk at Zabeel Park from 5:00 PM � 9:00 PM, organised to raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders and encourage the community to engage with children and adults on the spectrum and help them integrate into society.

The event is organised by Child Early Intervention Medical Center every year in April since 2009 and is supported by governmental, corporate and healthcare organisations, including title sponsors Emirates Industry for Camel Milk & Products (Camelicious).

Organisers said the Camelicious Global Autism Awareness Festival and Walk 2017 is a true opportunity for giving and showing support to the individuals affected with Autism and their families. The event over the past few years had attracted thousands of participants to show their support towards creating an inclusive society that believe in the values of giving, providing equal opportunity for everyone, building a protected and safe environment in a culture of tolerance and understanding.

”We believe it is our role to raise awareness not only to the importance of early detection and intervention but further more to building a true inclusive community that support students on the spectrum accessing schools, universities, vocational institutes and give them an equal opportunity to find suitable jobs,” said Dr Hibah Shata, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Child Early Intervention Medical Center.

The Global Autism Awareness Festival and Walk will feature fun activities for the whole family, including health, educational, entertainment activities which includes performances by the Dubai Police band, Dubai Drums, music, arts and crafts, children’s games, and much more.
