FNC Educational Affairs Committee discusses report on policies of Ministry of Education

DUBAI, — The Committee on Education, Culture, Youth, Sports and Media of the Federal National Council, FNC, discussed its report on the policies of the Ministry of Education during the meeting of the second ordinary session of the 16th legislative chapter at the FNC General Secretariat headquarters in Dubai, chaired by Naima Abdullah Al Sharhan.

Naima Al Sharhan stated that the committee reviewed the draft report on various subjects and discussed their amendments after considering some remarks from the three-panel discussions that were organised in Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah. Several field visits and meetings were also held where technical papers and studies by the General Secretariat were reviewed.

She added that the committee is currently discussing these issues as part of its work plan that includes several field visits to schools and the holding of panel discussions for teachers, students, parents and individuals who are interested in educational affairs, as well as organising meetings with educational authorities to assess operational burdens, the status of teachers and students, educational output, management of the educational environment and the school year timeframe.

Al Sharhan stressed that the work plan aims to improve upon these issues, given their vital importance to a large segment of society, while highlighting the committee’s desire to promote communication with the community to achieve objectivity and complementarity in addressing the issues.

The Committee Chairperson also underscored the importance of building the educational environment and addressing the aspirations and suggestions of teachers and students in the report, so that the final report of the committee will include practical recommendations to be presented to the FNC in its future sessions.

She added that the committee has examined the obstacles and problems faced by students and teachers, and noted that discussing the policies of the Ministry of Education is based on the FNC’s approach, to be the leading partner in the development of education in the UAE.
