Dubai to host World Confederation of Physiotherapy Conference 2021

DUBAI, Dubai won the bid to host the World Confederation of Physiotherapy Conference 2021, amidst strong competition from many international cities that aspired to host this important global health event.

The World Physiotherapy Federation announced this during the sixth Emirates Physiotherapy Conference, which began today in presence of Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Al Qutami said that the United Arab Emirates and the city of Dubai have become one of the world’s most important centres for organizing and hosting world summits, forums and conferences, including specialized medical conferences.

In his opening address at the Conference, Al Qutami, said: “We are witnessing rapid development and specialization in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. This field is of vital importance as it provides patients, especially young patients, an opportunity to live the best quality of life possible post an injury, trauma or stroke. It is also a field that provides the elderly, those with chronic diseases and those with certain congenital diseases an opportunity to enhance their quality of life. It helps prevent loss of productivity for the economy.

“We are keen to foster the growth of this field and it is one of the top specialities for medical tourists in Dubai.”

The conference discussed several key topics including specialised sessions and workshops on paediatric physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
