Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief reviews work of Community Happiness Department

DUBAI — Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, reviewed the work of the general administration of the Community Happiness Department, in the presence of Brigadier Khalid Shuhail, Acting Director of the Community Happiness Department, his deputy, Brigadier Dr. Ibrahim Abdulrahman, and Colonel Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of Sports Affairs, as well as several other police officers.

Major General Al Marri was briefed on the Department’s future projects and its various initiatives, which aim to achieve the strategic vision of the Dubai Police General Command for 2016 to 2020, in terms of community happiness.

He also reviewed the preliminary outcomes of a sporting initiative, ‘The Positive Spirit’, which was organised as part of the wider ‘Hamdan bin Mohammed Community Sports Initiative’ of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, which aims to strengthen the values of tolerance, co-existence, and dialogue among members of the community, and to reject hatred. The initiative also aims to promote a sporting culture and enable the community to benefit from sports as an efficient social tool.

Major General Al Marri directed the participants to coordinate with various departments of the Dubai Police, especially the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the General Department of Traffic, the General Department for Drug Control, and the General Department of Operations, to roll out awareness campaigns along with their sporting initiative and raise community awareness, especially among the youth, about the security culture and the services provided by the Dubai Police.

The authorities that participated in this positive initiative include the Dubai Police, the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Health Authority, the Community Development Authority, the Dubai Ambulance Services Centre, and the Roads and Transport Authority. The participating authorities will host sporting and awareness activities for their target categories in four locations in Dubai, Mirdif, Al Barsha, Muhaisnah 2, and the Al Quoz Industrial Area, based on a predetermined schedule.
