DUBAI, The Dubai Health Authority, DHA, recently received a high-level delegation from the United Nations, UN, at its headquarters.

Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA received the delegation headed by Philippe Douste-Blazy, UN Special Advisor on innovative financing for development.

The two sides discussed the framework for cooperation on humanitarian issues such as supporting the UN’s global programme on chronic malnutrition and other programmes such as vaccination and public health. The two sides also reviewed means to support the international cancer database, as well as the DHA’s experience with regard to health regulations and the use of information technology in healthcare.

Al Qutami said that Dubai has its unique model for health and that it fully supports humanitarian initiatives in the health sector and pertinent projects such as UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

Douste-Blazy praised the progress of the UAE and the rapid development in Dubai, stating that the emirate has been able, in a short time, to become one of the world’s most developed and prosperous cities.

He said that cooperation between international institutions and organisations and the Dubai Health Authority will significantly benefit the United Nations Development Programme, particularly those related to disease prevention, public health and other initiatives aimed at reducing the spread of chronic diseases.
