Over 3,000 eligible households benefit from UAE Ramadan programme in Pakistan’s Sindh

KARACHI, Up to 3,000 eligible households are set to benefit from comprehensive food aid provided as part of the annual charity campaign of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, in Khairpur District, Pakistan’s Sindh province.

The campaign falls in line with the Ramadan Programme run by the Emirates Red Crescent.

The UAE Consulate here is overseeing the distribution of the aid along with the campaign’s team in Khairpur and adjacent areas.

Fujairah Ruler re-affirms continuing expansion of Port of Fujairah

FUJAIRAH, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has underlined the paramount importance of boosting the Port of Fujairah’s operations and enhancing its capabilities as part of UAE’s transformational development drive and in line with the priorities of the National Agenda, the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071.

Sheikh Hamad made the remarks while inspecting the ongoing development of the port today, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

The Fujairah Ruler doubled on the growing economic importance of the port, highlighting its regional and international status as a major bunkering and energy hub.

While following up the routine port bunkering and freight-handling operations, Sheikh Hamad pointed out that the development of the port has been ongoing for decades, citing the current plans to strengthen the port infrastructure, including the deepening of berths and the establishment of quays and storage areas to increase its capacity and enable the arrival of larger vessels coming from the Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Indian Subcontinent.

He highlighted port’s modern equipment and leading facilities, noting that all measures are being taken to safeguard the oil investments in the port’s area and ensure socially and economically responsible investing movement.

Sheikh Hamad also highlighted ongoing efforts to enter strategic investment partnerships conducive to bolstering the significant status of the port as a global bunkering hub.

He added that the port’s additional operational capacity � including the installation of advanced cargo-lifting equipment, should be brought on-line by 2021, enabling it to handle larger vessels and provide better services.

Sheikh Hamad was accompanied as well by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Sports and Culture Club; Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Diwan; Salem Al Zahmi, Director of the Office of the Fujairah Crown Prince, and Captain Mousa Murad, General Manager of the Fujairah Port.

Dubai Police bust international narcotics gangs in largest operation in UAE history

DUBAI, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, while addressing a press conference revealed details about “Operation Stalker”, the largest anti-drug operation in the UAE’s history, which was conducted by drug enforcement officers from the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of the Dubai Police.

The operation led to the capture of two international drug smuggling gangs and revealed their method of smuggling drugs via the spare parts of cars.

During the operation, Dubai Police drug enforcement officers seized 365 kilogrammes of heroin, crystal meth and hashish, with a market value of AED278.050 million, the largest ever haul in the UAE, Al Marri added while noting that the operation resulted in the capture of 16 suspects from both gangs.

He then described the operation as a success, due to its precise and accurate planning and execution, as well as the capabilities of the drug enforcement officers of the Dubai Police, which led to the capture of the members of the gang that targeted young Emirati citizens and residents.

Major General Al Marri thanked the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, for supporting the country’s security efforts.

He also thanked H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for monitoring all national security cases, to establish security and peace in the country.

The press conference was attended by Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Assistant Commander for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics; Brigadier First Expert Ahmed Matar Al Muhairi, Acting Director of the General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology; Colonel Khalid bin Muwaiza, Deputy Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics; Colonel Abdullah Al Khayat, Manager of the Hemaya International Centre; Colonel Dr. Abdullah Busenad, Director of the International Control Department of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, and Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, Director of the Security Media Department, as well as several journalists and media representatives.

UAE heads Arab meeting to prepare for Arab-China Cooperation Forum

CAIRO, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, headed a coordination meeting of Arab permanent representatives held today at the Arab League headquarters, to prepare for the 16th Arab-China Cooperation Forum.

In his statement on the sidelines of the meeting, Khalid Al Habbas, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for International Political Affairs, said that today’s meeting aimed to establish a joint Arab vision for the 16th edition of the forum, which will be held in Abu Dhabi on 17th and 18th June.

He added that a strategic dialogue between both sides will be held during the forum while explaining that today’s meeting discussed the recommendations of senior officials from a related meeting, as well as the Arab side’s logistical and organisational preparations.

Al Habbas further added that the recommendations include forming a consensus on many key issues related to Arab-Chinese cooperation, such as the Palestinian cause, the crises in several Arab countries, combatting terrorism, and economic and social cooperation.
