Arab interior ministries to organise annual counter-terrorism awareness campaign

TUNIS, — Arab interior ministers recommended an annual week-long campaign to spread awareness of extremism and terrorism in Arab countries, the Council of Arab Interior Ministers announced on Wednesday at the conclusion of its 34th conference in the Tunisian capital.

The awareness campaign, to be held from 4th-10th January every year, would be part of efforts to promote counter-terrorism cooperation and coordination between Arab states, according to the conference’s communique.

During the two-day conference, the ministers approved special reports from member states on their progress in implementing pan-Arab strategies for combating terrorism and illicit psychedelic drugs and enhancing traffic safety and civil defence.

The UAE’s delegation at the conference was headed by H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.
