AQU sheds light on Al Hilal Bank’s digital experience
The Sharjah Center for Islamic Economics at Al Qasimia University (AQU) organised a panel discussion entitled “The Digital Experience of Al Hilal Bank, Reality, Challenges and Aspirations”, in the presence of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Director of Al Qasimia University, with the participation of a group of experts and practitioners in Islamic economics, at its headquarters at the University.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Awwad Al-Khalaf, delivered a speech on the experience of the digital transformation in Islamic financial institutions and its importance in advancing progress in Islamic banking and enhancing global competitiveness and the importance of modern technological applications in reducing time and investigating accuracy and speed in providing services to the public.
Then, the guest, Dr. Muhammad Obada, Head of the Sharia Supervision Department at Al Hilal Bank, clarified about Al Hilal Bank’s digital experience, its reality, the most prominent challenges and aspirations, and the efforts of Al Hilal Bank in digital transformation in providing its banking services to the public, indicating the positive effects that were reflected on those services, and its importance in advancing the bank and achieving competition in the Islamic banking industry.
His Eminence Dr. Osaid Kilani, member of the Supreme Sharia Board for Islamic Banking Financial Activities at the UAE Central Bank, and Dr. Mohiuddin Adnan Al-Hajjar, legal advisor, from Paris, commented on the Sharia and legal requirements of this experience.
