Amal Al Qubaisi receives Latvian President

ABU DHABI, — Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, received Raimonds Vejonis, President of Latvia, and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the FNC in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Al Qubaisi welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of their visit to the FNC that coincides with its eighth session, reflecting the depth of co-operation and partnership ties between the UAE and the Republic of Latvia, and the desire of both leaderships to develop these ties in various areas.

The meeting was attended by FNC members Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Al Mehrezi, Dr. Saeed Al Mutawa, Azza bin Suleiman, Hamad bin Ghalita Al Ghafli and Saeed Al Rumaithi, as well as Hanan Khalfan Obaid Alalili, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of promoting co-operation between both countries to serve their mutual interest, in view of the growing development in all sectors, highlighting the importance of developing parliamentary relations between both countries.

They also exchanged views regarding current developments on international and regional levels, including the current efforts to combat terrorism and eliminate its funding sources.

Dr. Al Qubaisi highlighted the UAE’s desire to promote its strong ties with Latvia that started several decades ago, and stressed the FNC’s appreciation for the mutual desire to promote co-ordination and co-operation, while praising President Vejonis’ efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in various areas.

President Vejonis praised the developments achieved by the UAE in various fields, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and highlighted the leading position of the UAE among the world’s countries.

He further highlighted his country’s desire to promote and develop mutual co-operation and establish a strategic partnership with the UAE in various areas, especially in the economic, investment and tourism fields.

He praised the development of parliamentary relations between both countries and the efficient activities of the FNC at international events, especially the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.
