Abu Dhabi’s trade with Saudi Arabia surges to AED1.4 billion in January

ABU DHABI, Abu Dhabi’s total trade with Saudi Arabia amounted to AED1.4 billion during January, an increase of 3.7 percent over the same month 2017, in yet a new sign of the growing trade exchange between the two sides.

According to Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi figures, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia comes on top of Arab and Gulf countries with the largest trade volume with the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, accounting for around 11.3 percent of the emirate’s total trade with all world countries during January, which is valued at AED12.4 billion.

Market analysts attributed the bilateral trade growth to the privileged economic relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, specially following the formation of an ad hoc committee dedicated to the development of trade between the two sides, last year.

Abu Dhabi’s total imports from Saudi Arabia amounted to AED950 million during January, against AED888 in the same month 2017.

I Re-exports between the two sides increased from AED152 million to around AED230 million during the same period, while exports were down to AED205 million from AED3000 million.

Abu Dhabi’s total trade with Saudi Arabia in 2017 totaled around AED17.4 billion, accounting for 11.1 percent of the emirate’s total trade with all world countries by the end of December.
