GAC Motor Delivers 150 GA3Ss to Police Force of Nigeria

ABUJA, Nigeria, June 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — GAC Motor has officially delivered 150 GA3Ss to Nigerian police force in Nigerian capital city of Abuja, which were purchased and donated by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Aliko Dangote Foundation. This is the second time that the company has delivered cars to Nigerian police, after an initial order from the Lagos police department in 2015. The bulk order is further recognition of GAC Motor’s growth in the African market, and affirmation of the excellent quality and high safety standards of its vehicles. The delivery ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of Nigeria.

Traffic fatalities down 22% in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, Abu Dhabi Police have announced positive results in traffic safety during the four months of the year with a reduction in general traffic accidents by 11 percent, fatalities by 22 percent, serious injuries by 14 percent and run-over deaths by 50 percent despite an 11 percent increase in the number of vehicles and 6 percent in the number of licence holders.

Major Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, Abu Dhabi Police, stated that the improvement in traffic safety indicators was similar to those recorded in the same period last year due to the implementation of the Comprehensive Traffic Safety Strategy 2016-2020 in collaboration with other strategic partners.

”Excessive speed accounted for 84 percent of traffic violations issued during the monitored period,” he noted.

Radars, he said, had caught 115,000 motorists despite the police’s announcement of locations of these smart devices several times during the day.

He said that the Smart Police Application had caught 91,700 erring motorists during the period from January to April.

According to him, young motorists in the age bracket of 18 to 30 were behind 46 percent of the registered accidents.

He highlighted the efforts made by the Traffic Police to organise awareness lectures in schools and universities through social media platforms.

Dubai Logistics District launches Masary system to facilitate transit of goods and vehicles

DUBAI, The Logistics District at Dubai South has launched Masary, a new smart electronic system that reduces the transit time of goods and vehicles. The new system is considered the first of its kind in the region and will positively impact the traffic of goods and vehicles that move through the district.

UAE participates in IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, has led the participating UAE delegation at the 1st edition of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue: 17th Asia Security Summit, which is being held from 1st to 3rd June, 2018.

This year’s sessions of the Shangri-La Dialogue focussed on several key themes that included, the US leadership and challenges of Pacific security, the elimination of the North Korean crisis, and the formation of system security in Asia.

The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore is the most important regular gathering of defence professionals in the Asia-Pacific region, a vital annual fixture in the diaries of ministers and their civilian and military chiefs of staff. Since its launch in 2002, the dialogue has built confidence and fostered practical security cooperation, by facilitating easy communication and fruitful contact among the region’s most important defence and security policymaker.
