UAEU organises ‘The Power of Ideas in the Innovation Industry’ workshop

AL AIN, — The Department of Geography and Urban Planning at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University, UAEU, has organised a workshop titled, “The Power of Ideas in the Innovation Industry”, in co-operation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation.

The workshop aims to promote the culture of innovation in the academic community environment.

The workshop, which was held at the university’s female campus, was attended by Fatima Al Mansouri, Director of the Family Development Centre in Al Dhafra and the innovation specialist accredited by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, as well as the university’s students.

Al Mansouri made a presentation on the culture of innovation in the academic community and its importance in improving human lives and developing society, by introducing innovative ideas that can creatively contribute to solving problems and overcoming challenges to bring about new opportunities that would enhance the quality of human lives in social, cultural and scientific fields. It can also enhance the skills of students in the development of various scientific projects, in the fields of investment and services to enhance efficiency and production.

She also spoke about the impact of innovation on the community and its role in increasing the efficiency of goods and services, as well as increasing the gross domestic product of countries by improving capital efficiency and knowledge of products and commodities among individuals.

Al Mansouri then addressed the effects of innovation on industry and its impact on economic growth to enhance competitiveness among the countries of the world.

She highlighted the FllowCafy Project, one of the leading innovative projects launched by the Youth Projects Council. The project is operated, managed and developed by youth as an initiative that is supervised by Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, which aims to contribute to supporting innovative development in the UAE.

The project is a collection of ideas from young people, developed in innovative ways to take advantage of for the development of new, innovative and distinctive projects.
