UAE participates in GCC Customs Union meeting

ABU DHABI, — The UAE participated in the 19th meeting of the Gulf Co-operation Council’s Customs Union, held on Saturday in Riyadh to discuss a number of priorities for the regional six-member bloc.

The UAE delegation headed by Commissioner Ali Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Federal Customs Authority, FCA, included a number of senior officials from the FCA, Ministry of Economy, Sharjah’s Department of Seaports and Customs and the Ministry of Finance.

Discussions at the meeting covered a range of topic including movement of trucks between the six GCC member states, direct transfer of customs fees, protection of local trade agents as well as factories built in specialised economic zones by GCC investors. WAM/MMYS
