Fifty teachers from 15 Dubai private schools take part in Living Arabic Laboratory

DUBAI, Fifty teachers from 15 private schools in Dubai will benefit from the educational and technical enrichment programme through the Living Arabic Laboratory.

The initiative aims to meet the growing need of Arabic language teachers and students for learning tools and innovative technologies that will stimulate Arabic language learning in the classroom.

Foremarke School hosted the second event of the Living Arabic Laboratory initiative on Saturday, following the theme ‘Innovation’. In attendance were Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and Fatima Al Marri, CEO of Dubai School Agency at KHDA, along with more than 500 teachers from 110 private schools in Dubai.

The Living Arabic Laboratory, which was launched by the teachers as part of the initiative, will enable 50 teachers from 15 schools to benefit from the latest tools in teaching and learning the Arabic language, in cooperation with institutions that are participating in the laboratory, said the CEO of Dubai School Agency at KHDA.

It will also showcase its programmes and train teachers to make use of available resources. They will subsequently use these tools in their study plans, as well as in their documentation of student responses and performance, she added.

“We do not know how the world will look like in the future, but we are responsible for enabling our students to become used to important tools and life skills that will help them to integrate into this world, adapt to change rapidly, be productive and become active members of the community and the world,” said Naomi Williams, Headmistress of Foremarke School in Dubai.

Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi stated, during the inaugural session, that empowering students to acquire Arabic language skills “is an urgent need.”

Living Arabic is a platform where educators come together to share and develop innovative solutions for language teaching and learning, pushing towards one common goal of providing a first-rate education for all UAE students, as outlined in the UAE National Agenda’s Vision 2021. The initiative came from students who participated in KHDA’s ‘What Works Arabic’ event. Living Arabic is organised by schools for schools.
