Emirates Transport drivers receive timely road safety reminders for Ramadan

DUBAI — Emirates Transport, ET, has launched its annual Holy Month of Ramadan safety campaign targeting school transport drivers, and drivers working for government and private sector entities. Awareness leaflets and booklets in Arabic, English and Urdu were distributed to thousands of drivers across the country.

Khalid Shukur, Manager of the Department of Environment and Occupational Health and Safety, HSE, at ET, said that the campaign serves as a timely and essential reminder to drivers, and forms part of the corporation’s commitment towards providing safe transport.

Shukur added that the Emirates Transport Driving Institute is partnering with RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency to carry out multi-lingual awareness lectures during Ramadan for drivers and trainees.

The campaigns will remind drivers of the importance of taking necessary steps during Ramadan to avoid issues such as fatigue and lack of concentration during fasting hours. These preventative measures include getting enough sleep before working hours, taking a short nap between jobs, eating Sohour, a meal before sunrise, to boost energy levels during the day, and making sure air conditioning units in their vehicles are fully operational.
