Dubai Police General Command receives donation of AED1.4m from family of late Obaid Al Helou for prison inmates suffering from debt

DUBAI — The Dubai Police General Command, represented by the General Administration of Penal Institutions, received a financial donation from the family of the late Obaid Al Helou of AED1,408,155, as part of the “Their Families’ Joy” initiative for prison inmates suffering from debt.

The initiative comes in line with the declaration of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to make 2017 the #Year of Giving.

The event took place while Brigadier-General Ali Al Shamali, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments of the Dubai Police, received Mohammed Al Ansari, Manager in charge of the late Obaid Al Helou family’s affairs, in the presence of several police officers.

Brigadier Al Shamali praised the contributions of the late Obaid Al Helou, which continue through the support of his family, to vulnerable people.

Al Shamali added that the “Their Families’ Joy” initiative led to the release of 11 prisoners and their re-integration into the community.

He thanked the family of the late Obaid Al Helou and highlighted that financial donations are presented to inmates according to specific conditions, and through procedures followed by the administration.
