Dubai Otology conference concludes

DUBAI, — After three successful days, the fourth edition of Dubai Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery Conference and Exhibition concluded today at the Dubai Healthcare City.

The top three prevailing otology conditions in the United Arab Emirates are recurrent ear infections in children, hearing loss, and recurring dizziness. Other common ENT conditions in the UAE include allergic rhinitis, snoring, sleep apnea, and chronic sinusitis, according to Dr. Ahmad Alamadi, Consultant Otologist and Neurotologist and Medical Director at Al Baraha Hospital, and the Dubai Otology Conference Chairman.

“The importance of this event comes from it forming the ideal platform for local and international notable speakers to network with one another, discuss and understand the latest advances in this highly specialised field,” Dr. Alamadi said.

One of the key attractions of the conference this year was the three-day Masterclass on Head Impulse that was running parallel to the main conference and exhibition. The masterclass allowed hands-on experience mechanism of head impulse testing conducted by skilled instructors.

The three-day conference has touched upon major issues and topics related to otology, neurotology and skull base surgery. The conference topics included the recent developments in cochlear implant, implantable hearing aids, auditory brainstem implant, and the future of otology and neurotology.
