Curtains down on Ajman Quran & Sunnah Award

DUBAI — Curtains were brought down on the 7th edition of the Dar Al Ber Quran and Sunnah Award following fierce competition from 1,500 students of 60 government, private and foreign schools in the emirate of Ajman.

However, 640 students managed to clear the initial qualifying tests and sat the final examinations. Of those 215 students, including 105 males and 110 females scored the highest marks, and won the top ranks of the annual competition.

The concluding ceremony of the popular contest was organised at the centre of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development in the presence of Dr. Sheikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Court in Ajman.

Ali Hassan, Director of the Ajman Education Zone, said the Award has attracted 1,500 students, spanning 850 females and 650 males, from 60 schools this year. “This gives a big boost to the value and ethics of the students.”

Though 640 students managed to clear the initial tests, all participants were winners, he added. “Up to 215 students, including 105 boys and 110 girls, made it and secured the top positions.”

Khalid Abdulwahhab Al Khajah, Chairman of the Award Supreme Committee, said the UAE leaders have paid much attention to the memorisation of the holy Quran that hundreds of Quran study centres have been established nationwide. “These centres help raise our children on the values of tolerance, moderation, and loyalty to the country and prudent leadership.”

Al Khajah then expressed sincere appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, for his the generous support to the award, and to Dr. Sheikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi for sponsoring the ceremony.

He also thanked the Ajman Education Zone for their remarkable cooperation, as well as the members of the organising committee, patents and students for their dedication and commitment. “Dar Al Ber has specified a large budget for the award this year ranging from AED 850,000 to AED 860,000.”
