Al Habtoor donates AED10 million to Sandooq Al Watan

DUBAI, — Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group, has donated AED 10 million to Sandooq Al Watan, a National Fund for youth development.

Sandooq Al Watan, is a community-driven initiative launched to help better prepare the nation’s children for the future. It aims to provide Emiratis with career advice from school to employment. It includes training programmes, internships and assistance for applicants to universities.

The initiative is in line with the UAE leadership’s vision of a sustainable future for the nations private sector. The Sandooq Al Watan recently drew praise from His Highness Shiekh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for highlighting the positive role played by Emirati companies and individuals for the benefit of the country and its citizens.

Al Habtoor pointed out that the private sector and businessmen must work alongside the government to provide the necessary support to projects that will help sustain the development of the UAE.

“We need to encourage entrepreneurship in our youth for the benefit of the UAE. This is good for our country’s economy. It helps secure future prosperity, while supporting the government’s Emiratization programme to get more nationals involved in the private sector,”he said.

“I encourage everyone to donate to the Sandooq Al Watan, whether they are Emirati of not,” he added.

The Al Habtoor Group, whose motto is ‘Growing with the UAE, supports the Emiratisation programme within its business units: hospitality, automotive, real estate, education and publishing.

Earlier this week Al Habtoor met with representatives from the Dubai College of Tourism to assist in a new Emiratisation scheme which helps train university and high-school graduates in the hospitality sector
